I went to a specialty baby store nearby and tried out several strollers. I was shocked by how uncomfortable the Maclarens were. It was a strip of cloth on a frame, no way I would want to sit on that let alone my newborn. Yes, newborns can use this umbrella stroller, all the way up to 51 lbs (since my 1 yr. old is only 19 lbs we have many years ahead of us!) I tried several of the "top" brands and they just didn't cut it. One came close, but the deal-breaker for me was the reclining feature. You had to pull a cloth strap to adjust it. I have a stroller with that feature and it just doesn't work good. The seat slowly slides back, I can never get it up all the way. And forget trying to adjust that kind of strap with one hand!
